Most likely from the (Arm? Leg?) band near it. I think it's the all purpose 'The pony is holding something' method for carrying it. If that makes sense.

Well, it certainly looks epic if you don't think about it... On second thought, it looks epic either way.
Besides, as a desktop background, the gun is cut off at the bottom, so it really doesn't matter.

Think of it the other way around. It isn't cut off because it's poorly sized for a desktop wallpaper, but it's an awesome phone/tablet wallpaper.
