What was supposed to be a quick sketch asploded into a full on drawing. Don't you guys just hate when that happens? Me neither. Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope that you like it.
EDIT: Cropped the image and removed a few branches.
EDIT 2: So I wake up, take another look and realize that there isn't nearly enough MUD. Best pony ain't no run of the mill earth pony - she's a MUD pony. Also acted on some advice from the comments, including a slightly more frazzled mane and a hint of blur. Thanks guys, and sorry for yet another edit. :[

I like the way AJ looks determined to get away, but not scared out of her wits. It looks like she may have a plan. This is no ordinary pony they are dealing with. If there's a way out, she'll find it, and the look in her eyes tells me she knows this.

Wow! I first saw this pic after the first edit and something about it didn't sit right with me. I didn't know what it was until I saw it just now. The mud, the frazzled hair.. it made it so much more realistic. I love it now, it looks awesome!

I like how her body, the dirt and the particles make it feel so dynamic.
Add a bit of motion blur and maybe a little scruffier mane and it'll be perfect.

Love the dirt particles in the air, it makes feel of motion and speed. But I'm finding the hair(mane and tail) reflections a bit off, it makes the hair as a flat, smooth surface. And the whole background looks pretty well .
