Description
THIS IS AN EXAMPLE WITH BOUSTROPHEDON TEXT AND WORD LINKS BETWEEN THE LINES. WIKIPEDIA HAS A GOOD ARTICLE ON BOUSTROPHEDON TEXT.[link]
In the uppercase boustrophedon example up there, you begin to read the text from left to right, following the initial direction given by the little arrow at the beginning. Then, you follow along from line to line, switching to a right to left reading at the second line and going back to left to right at the third line and so on. With this type of alphabet you can read/write from left to right or from right to left or from top to bottom or from bottom to top. You choose the direction when writing or when setting up previously written text for display and you indicate the direction with a little arrow at the beginning.
This is an alphabet designed for multi user interactive digital displays which are set up horizontally. No matter where you sit or stand around the display, you always see the same letter more or less in the same way as the shapes forming each letter repeat themselves on all of their four sides. In other words, each letter has biaxal symmetry. The full alphabet is in another image in the gallery.
