“Is dat what I just heard?!” The mandrill exclaimed, eyeing the King directly. Rafiki closed his hands, rather shocked by what Scar had just said, “An Empire? We can’t jus’ do tha’, Scar!” Rafiki reminded. “Oh, and why not?” Scar questioned with a huge grin on his face. “Rafiki, do you have any idea of how many complaints I get per day from the herds? Each morning Zazu only brings bad things instead of actual news. ‘We have no space to hide’, ‘we fear for our youngest way too much now’, ‘we need to keep extra watch now’, and blah blah blah.” Scar said, mimicking the herds.
“But what would de point of an Empire be? De Pridelands ar’ a kin’dom, not an Empire!” Rafiki asked. “Oh, trust me, Rafiki. We will expand, and I will be the most powerful leader that anyone’s ever seen. We’ll conquer territories, and have more herds. Wouldn’t that be benefiting for us?” The King then got closer to the mandrill, and hugged him. “It’ll be spectacular.”
“But we can’t do dat!” Rafiki protested. “De Great Kings wouldn’t like dat. And on de other hand, we’d have many and many wars. Dis territory is big and good enough, de problem are de hyenas, sire! Dey hunt for sport, not for necessity.” The shaman argued. “But the hyenas will serve us against wars! The Pridelands are not nomads. Alliances aren’t necessary, and we have a full group of lionesses and lions to protect this place, and a HUGE clan of hyenas.” Scar yelled, mad to be opposed. “Yer making things up, Scar…” and before he could finish his sentence, Scar growled. “It’s KING Scar for you! I’ll bring the matter to MY Pride and to MY clan.” He yelled, turning his back on the old mandrill. Rafiki watched, dumbfounded.

“I will turn this into an Empire, and I will be your Emperor.”

Yeah, Scar went mad goo goo and wanted to turn the Pridelands into an Empire. Now that he achieved what he always wanted, Scar felt bored, and seeing how much power he had on his paws, he wanted to grow bigger.
For a fact, the Pridelands did become an Empire for a small while ( like one/two years ) before it went fully dry, and without many announcements, everyone just assumed it went back to being a Kingdom. Scar did manage to expand his territory, so the only good thing that came out of his era was the fact he managed to expand.
