Kiara was sitting on the edge of Pride Rock, staring at the purple sky, that soon would turn into a sunrise. She seemed worried.

— Kiara?

A familiar voice said, her ears tweaked. She turned her head and saw Kovu.

— Kovu? What are you doing out here so early?

— What are YOU doing out here so early?

— Oh… It’s just, uhm…

She tried to think of a lie.

— I-I like the sunrises..

— Oh, mind if I watch it with you?

— Suuure…

Kovu got closer, and sat next to Kiara. He could see something was wrong with her… she seemed concerned with something, uncomfortable.

— Hey, is something bothering you?

— H-Huh? Well, I think that my face made it clear…

She sighed.

— Do you mind telling me what it is?

— No. It’s just… Kion.

— Oh… Kion.

— You know, Kovu… it’s been… months since he’s gone. What if something bad happened? What if he…

— Hey, I’m sure he’s okay. From what Rafiki told me, the journey is supposed to be long.

He smiled.

— I… I’m just… concerned.

Kovu nuzzled Kiara.

— I’m sure your little brother’s fine. He’s got his friends to protect him, I’m sure he’ll be back in no time.

— Yeah, I hope so…

I personally believe that Kiara was worried sick about Kion, because well, she cares about him??
I also think that Kovu always consoled her when she had those thoughts, which is kinda cute
