Description

So, earlier this week I came across an old photo of a little dragon. When I realized who it actually was, my eyes lit up. This isn't just any random dragon, this is actually my first ever online avatar back when I was a kid( 5th grade specifically.) I created this character, and played little mini games as on the old "The Legend of Spyro," website.
The moment I found this photo, I knew I had to redesign him, so I opened up Procreate and started sketching. This eventually led to the final design seen here. I knew that I wanted to stick close to the original character, specifically with the "cuteness" of the Spyro art style, yet redoing his anatomy, giving him a bulkier body structure, and legs which are much closer to the ground than in the original. To get that structure, I referenced various different types of cats, dogs, and geckos( for the face and tail.)
The end result, is a character which has that "Spyro charm" but looks different enough to not be considered a direct copy. This dragon man, he's been apart of my life for quite a while, and hasn't received enough love. But now with his new design, I can certainly see him being included in an animation or two when I get to those classes(currently taking classes at Full Sail University.)
