Description
This is part of a tutorial did for "2dartist magazine". The idea was create a special marine who have the capacity to fight in hot planet, in the midle of the lava.IΒ΄m inspired in to much games, specially crysis, dead space. this is one of the best artworks I've ever seen in my life. When I saw this a few months ago before I had a deviant account it gave me inspiration day in and day out. The practicality and sheer badassery of the suit, and the composition and colors are PERFECT. All my life I've been imagining a sci fi world in my head--and this piece fulfilled and surpassed a great deal of ideas I'd been pondering for the elite supersoldier. Incredible work, I'd put a poster of this in my room

sweet pic. reminds me of this sci fi im reading "old man's war" i kinda pictured the soldiers wearing something a bit form fitting, but is definitely armor.

Yeah very cool, i always love how some games use the human muscle structure as the base or core concept of the armor, it works best that way because it makes it easier to relate fluid movement from body to armor especially if you have a good understanding of the human body and how it moves.

a good tutorial.has showed me how are the textures done digitally.and i tried all the time to ,,paint,, the textures without adding effects even if is not looking the same real like in this tut. but i admit traditionaly helped me alot to improve the art style and draw them more in a 3D look....almost digital (:
and this tutorial i thnk it will help me improve even more digitally but i think the hardest part is to ,,hide,,the cutted image perfectly in background.
And for the final a question:how long take you a digital drawing with textures added and how longer take you one with ,,hand paint,, look?

Thank you so much for your comments.
I donΒ΄t know haow much time take me draw something using texture or using my hand, but I can tell you that the first option is more fast and simple, for me depend, if my client need something more realistic or rendered I will use the first optinon, but always I prefer to draw all the piant with out texture, is more beautifull for me

I really like how you did their stances. It's not over exaggerated, and gives the picture more movement I think. Plus you can really see the awesome armor in action. I love the twist in the torso in the guy in front. Fantastic attention to detail.

gunna be a TAD critical here and say.. you do realise you've made his assault rifle left handed right? otherwise the shells would eject from the opposite side

it looks far too much like the various crysis muscle suits. In most cases sci-fi armor includes well armor, this suit doesn't exactly look like it offers much in the way of protection. sure there are a few plates of armor on the form but they are insanely thin, look at the lead soldier's right hip the leg plate barely makes any change to the line of the hip.
considering that you're making this design as a suit capable of operation hot planet/lava it seems the coloration is odd, with the dark grayish color you have the various lights/glowing widgets should have been red or orange to make it blend in with the environment. or on the other end of the scale it seems silly to use a dark, heat adsorbing color as the primary for a suit that's meant to protect the wearer from heat.

its SCI FI does not have to be realistic

I gave a perfectly good idea of an unrealistic variant, light colored armor. realistic would be the dark armor with red lights.
