Once these half-human, half-fish-like creatures were high in numbers and populated nearly every sea, lake and pond of the world. However, they were hunted near extinction thousands of years ago, and today their numbers remain unknown, as scholars have been unable to approach them safely. Mermaids are terrific warriors, they live in shoals and are typically ruled by the strongest individual, a king or a queen. They are beasts of prey and rarely swim alone, which makes them increasingly difficult to kill or capture. In the search of mermaid parts, the hunter often becomes the hunted, as mermaids have developed a taste for human flesh. ..."

- A word of caution, my lady. Going after a shoal of these marvelous beasts has brought an early end to many a young life. Approaching shouldn't be done without utmost caution and no less than thirty of your best men. I would personally suggest going after a male shoal, the lady-beasts have proven to be extremely vicious. Tragically, their parts tend to make the best ingredients as well.
