Description "Sexuality is a choice? Okay... So when did you decide to be straight?"

Most scientists today agree that sexual orientation is the result of a combination of biological, hormonal, emotional, and environmental factors - meaning that there are many factors that contribute to a person's sexual orientation. Most agree that sexual orientation is not a choice, and it cannot be changed.

Still, some people claim that sexuality is a choice, and that homosexuals and bisexuals are simply choosing to sexually deviate from the 'norm' of heterosexuality.

Why would people choose to be homosexual if they knew that their parents and family would disown them if they knew? This point by ~MinZki !
If sexuality is a choice, then when did you choose to become straight?
If sexuality is a choice, why don't you choose to be gay? If it's so simple to change what sex you are sexually attracted to, flip the switch for a day and choose not to be attracted to members of the opposite sex. Only become aroused by members of the same sex. Seriously, do it! I'd like to know how that works out for you.

Point is, sexuality is not a choice, no more than our skin color is a choice, or our natural hair color. It's just a part of who we are, and people who claim they can change are just fooling themselves. That's all I've got to say for now on this topic.

Has God said this directly? Β Is there a video of God parting the clouds, or an article written by Him, that says why gay marriage will end civilization in a non-convoluted way?

In the old testament of the Holy Bible. There were two cities he destroyed which participated in these activities. I do not know why, but it's only to obey his commandments. The two cities were Sodom and Gomorrah. Innocents shouldn't have to pay for a nation's sins.

Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because the people of those cities tried to rape two angels. Β Their sexuality was irrelevant, they tried to rape angels!

That was their last sin. The Angels were sent as a test to see how they would behave. They blew it there why trying to harass our brothers from Heaven.Β

My point is that the whole bunch suffered because of what some people did. Not many escaped God's wrath. Lot, who was Abraham's nephew barely escaped. His wife however, died on the impact of destruction.

That aside, I don't think God would destroy a country for legalizing same-sex marriage. Β The Netherlands have had same-sex marriage for fifteen years, and they're still standing.

I suppose nothing has happened as of now, but we can't pretend this is right. We both acknowledged it is a sin. I suppose I best let them be. As long I know I did my part in talking. It'll be their fault for mot listening.

"but we can't pretend this is right."

Yeah, 'cause you can't pretend reality.

"We both acknowledged it is a sin."

No, I said that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for raping angels, not homosexuality. Β I never said that I agreed to something as ludicrous as something not being a choice, but still a sin.

"I did my part in talking. It'll be their fault for mot listening."

They're listening, you're just not saying anything.

I would like to add that being a certain orientation is also like having a disability XD You're born with it and as I far as I know you'll always have/be with that, so that's the one that I use. Just shows I'm 'broken' in more than one way haha.
But yes. I agree very much.

As I am very uneducated on this subject, my statement may be pointless. However, I will state it nonetheless.
I am heterosexual. I am straight because I am attracted to women and not men (As well as my Christian beliefs, but that's besides the point). Right? Right.
Homosexuals and bisexuals, on the other hand, are gay/lesbian/whatever because they are attracted to the same sex/both sexes for whatever reason.
And what of asexuals? They don't participate in sexual interactions because they don't fine pleasure or stimulation in it, as well as a lack of interest. It is their choice to be asexual.
I am on both sides of the argument, to be perfectly honest. I myself believe that it's a combination of biological factors, etc. AS WELL as a choice.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Bacxaber In reply to ShadowDoodles9927 [2015-01-19 20:36:37 +0000 UTC]

No, it's not their choice to be asexual. They're that way because they are. "You're just white because you chose to be white" would be the exact same logic as yours, and it too, would be incorrect; seeing as "Some people are black/straight/whatever because they are. Some people are Asian/bisexual/whatever because they are. BUT WHITE PEOPLE? THEY AREN'T BLACK OR ASIAN, SO THEY *CHOOSE* TO BE WHITE!"

No. They're white for the same reasons a black person is black, etc.

AMindofMine In reply to ShadowDoodles9927 [2015-01-13 04:11:58 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I just want to calmly correct one of your statements.
Asexuals just don't feel sexual attraction. Some asexuals do participate in sexual interactions, find pleasure and stimulation, and have interest. Some don't.Β A thing I've seen popularly used is, Action=/=Attraction. Meaning they can still be asexual if they have/had sex.
However, someone identifying with a label is a choice(Like, I'm ___ now.) but what they feel is not.

Sorry to bother you, sir, but this was just messing with me.

good point!
the bisexuality's always been in me but i didn't realize it until just this year.
i have kissed another girl before, but i was like 8 so i'm not sure if it counts ^^
either way, it shouldn't be called "homophobia" because they aren't scared.
they just choose to be jerks to anyone who doesn't love the same gender that they love.

I chose to be straight because I just don't see the point in being with other men. Plus it is forbidden and seen as a sin. Also, I think girls are pretty and guys.... yeah no. :l

And your point is actually controversial. There have been cases where former homosexuals are gay or lesbian for years, then suddenly realize they weren't.Β

So really, it wouldn't be the same for everyone.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Adoptables-Hoe In reply to EnriqueArreguin777 [2014-12-29 05:57:06 +0000 UTC]

I figure that you just realized you're straight. Just like the people of other sexualities. ^ ^ Just a speculation, however. May or may not be true.

There are people who wear sexualities as fads in their teenage years (not always teenagers, but I hope you get my point), and finally come out as heterosexual in the end because they can't handle their lie anymore. u v u Some people even lie about being straight to prevent backlash from society about their orientation. They raise families with the opposite sex, and hide their sexuality.

Not really a recommended choice for any LGBT+ person, since it can be mentally and emotionally harmful, but whatever floats their boat. c:

Plus, sexuality is a very fluid spectrum. In fact, very few bisexuals are 50 / 50 in terms of attraction. They can hold one gender or sex above the other, and prefer them over it's opposite. o v o It's pretty hard to call yourself completely lesbian or gay when you hold attraction to the opposite sex. Which may be where some of the confusion comes from, as some people believe that sexuality is just 'heterosexual-homosexual' when there is actually far more to human sexuality. c:

I hope this made sense. I'm on antibiotics right now, and I'm surprised I can even type with proper-ish English grammar. cx

I also didn't mean for this to come off as rude, if you read it that way. I don't mean it in a disrespectful way, as it's just my two cents on the matter. ; v ;

Blah thank you.Β  I'm asexual and some people try to claim my sexuality doesn't even exist.Β  Β  Like I just don't get any kind of sexual attraction.Β  It's not something I asked for though - not having it, that is.Β  Now, I'm 16, there's still time for it to change and I acknowledge that.Β  But at the moment, I lack the sexual urges that most kids my age seem to have.

Romantic orientation I would say is a bit different though.Β  To a certain point being panromantic was a choice after thinking for a while about how much gender just doesn't matter.Β  I'd considered myself heteroromantic until then but eventually just stopped and realized...I don't even give a fuck.
