West Podegisse is dominated by the Republic of Podegisse, the largest and most populous country on Shudo with 79m people, followed by Stonlottha at 47.4m. Ngatuksoo is around the same size as Stonlottha, but has only 1/11th the population, at only 4.3m people. Most of Ngatuksoo's people are peviuir, who all live within a hundred or so miles of the border with the RoP. Moving further north gives way to an almost entirely cemvarunt population, many of whom still practice their ancestral customs, and remain the purest native population in terms of culture.

On New Khayi one can find a mix of native dafleivarunt, many of whom still practice ancestral customs, and transplanted vapel and vaicrauns whose ancestors were first brought to Shudo as slaves. As the land there is extremely fertile and rich with minerals, it saw a glut of colonies set up in the early days of colonialism though most have since gained their independence.
