it's not that i'm mad about this piece of art in particular, it's just that i'm mad about this social stigma that women can't be pretty if they are fat and if they are fat then they can never be represented in media and the simple fact that 99.999% of quality art on this site features a white woman with unrealistically rounded boobs and a waist that, if on most women, would actually hinder their circulation and kill them.

stigmas against a group of people lead to discrimination. discrimination leads to objectification. objectification leads to oppression.
i am on the receiving end. when 90% of people suffering and dying from eating disorders are women, when a nine-year-old girl has to cover up the strap of her training bra because it gives a forty-year-old married man the wets in his pants, when you are warned all your life to always keep your guard up even though you live in a christian farming town, when women's greatest fear in dating is that their boyfriend will be a SERIAL KILLER while men's greatest fear in dating is that their girlfriend will be FAT β when you have to live constantly in fear and judgment just because of some stupid roll-of-the-dice chromosomes, i think the line between stigma and oppression becomes less of a line and more of a venn diagram.
it's hard to make a mistake when the answers have been a part of your life since your conception.

i never said i don't realize that boys are made fun of for being raped, that boys can't wear dresses without being labeled trans*, that men can be also harmed by misogyny. i just haven't gotten to that part yet and i don't like using the fast-forward button during discourses. but you are very much right on that and i completely agree with you β most people think feminism is about pushing men down as far as possible, but that's not entirely accurate. the technical definition of feminism is "the supporting and normalizing of oppressed or marginalized characteristics normally attributed to women, people of color, LGBTQIA+, people of disabilities, people with "undesirable" body types (and i say this only with a quote, because i love my own body and weight takes nothing away from appearance; you wouldn't tell a tall girl 'you're pretty for a tall girl' so don't tell me i'm pretty for a fat girl), etc."
this includes men who are raped, men who just want to wear a dress, men who are overweight, trans* men, men of color, men with disabilities, men with mental illness, any man who has suffered from the patriarchy. we want to help you, but since the problem has its roots in thousands of years of violence against women and expresses itself the most clearly there, it's all i can do to speak for my gender. that's what i have experience in and it's the only thing by which i can testify.

you were the one who wanted to get into that debate, my friend. i pointed out an unrealistic body image that dominates this website even though it is harmful towards women in the fact that it destroys self-esteem, and since you didn't believe me, you challenged me that "everyone has it bad and you shouldn't complain". that's exactly what abusers say, what the people in charge say, hell, it was what slave drivers said; i knew that from the second i began to type a response that this is what would happen.

Nothing really deflects bullets anyway. It's either you wear body armor that makes getting hit not as bad as it could've been, but you're still out of the fight (you may still die though.) or you don't wear body armor and rely of mobility. That said, she can wear a bikini or full BDU it doesn't make a difference, the only criticism would simply be about aesthetic preference.Β
