Description
Schoo / finals have been eating my time.TIME TO SHOW OFF!
At least one of the things that I've been working on this last while.
This is half of what's due for finals in my 3D modeling class. ( Other half is an exterior ).
We were to choose a 'simple' character to model. Oho. While Red appears to be simple he's still a bit tricky when it comes to modeling. It's the head.
Luckily his colours are simple, thusly making the texturing part incredibly easy.
Rigging is the bane of my existence. Never fun. What is rigging? It's when you stick bones inside a character to make it move and pose. His finger bones decided they wouldn't work and more often than not twisted and twitched when I tried to pose them. Whenever I saved the file and re-opened it the fingers would be in completely sporadic pose from what I saved it from.
But this is Red, really, was I expecting him to cooperate? XD aha. No.
Fav parts:
Eyes, skirt, antenna.
The antenna have bones in em! They can move around in any pose. c: It makes me happeh. I loves zeh Irken lekku.

MERRY CHRISTMAS INVADER ZIM FANS!

What a great job!!! I've never worked with Maya (or any other 3D program..) but I've seen a lot of other people use it, and this tops most anything else I've seen. It's so smooth and, well, perfect!
Now I'm wondering what a 3D Zim show would be like...?

Zankya zankya.
Aw, Zim would be cute, and probably a hell of a lot easier @_@ Red has so many damn pieces to him.

Cool! So how many rigs does he have? I can see the fingers, arms, and knees in the first image, but are there others?

He's got a basic skeleton in him.
Head, chest, a few links in the spine and legs. Then theres the arms and fingers. And the antenna too of course.
I didn't put any facial rig in him. We were just suppose to make him pose.
Plus.. I suck at rigging. XD

Cool. I dunno, I think this is pretty good Of course... I know next to nothing about rigging. All my stuff has come pre-rigged so far.

I modeled him in a 3d program called Maya. Then I lit it with lights you create in the same program. You then put a skeleton in it to make it move and pose. This is called rigging.
Then you render off the pictures.

Sounds great! I tried to go to a 3d course this year... it was far too expensive, when they told me how much it costs I came out from the 3d school laughing!
