That's the same logic as what you have to do befoe you jump if you have a pet (Hunter or Warlock).
Being a hunter, it occurs often that before you JUMP, put the pet away. And I remember thinking one time before doing a jump in BRD I think it was (Might've been LBRS), while I was putting my cat away was--WHERE THE HELL DID IT GO?!
So I got this image of Jaerda (my character ) Balancing this huge Frostsaber on her shoulders before jumping....

The same logic applies to FFXI... Apparently, i can carry a great axe, a scythe, a great sword, a club, and two sets of armor in my pocket without breaking a sweat, but if i want to accept a flower from a friend in a trade, my empty hands aren't enough to carry it.
