The fantasy of the character.
Is one of the raised under horrific circumstances because someone ( her parents ) wanted to try out an idea. in relation to how much a human could survive if they from a young age would be forced to survive and contest with monsters both literally and of the worst of what humans can offer kind.
and after spending most of Ireenas's ( name of this character) childhood and losing interest in the "experiment" they just dumb realise to the outside world.
But to Ireena she gets to explore so she is just filled with joy and excitement she will be part of a world she doesn't understand. beyond killing to survive is only natural, and her being able to survive is proof that her parent actually loves and cares for her. Which of course is not the case.
