After having a horrible experience with both Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) (Both by the mediocre and utterly disappointing quality of the movies, themselves, and being constantly harassed and insulted by the overly toxic fanbase that spawned from them), I stopped making Godzilla-related fan art for a while. Now that some time has passed, I've felt motivated to draw something to help remind me why I enjoy the Godzilla franchise, hence, I drew the Heisei Era Godzilla (More specifically, his design from 1992 to 1994).

Say what you will about the Heisei Godzilla movies, but in my opinion, the Heisei version of Godzilla (If only from a conceptual standpoint) is the best incarnation of the character, since I feel it manages to stike a fine balance, being self-serious and topical, but also being fantastical and fun escapism. Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991), Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle for Earth (1992), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993), and Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla (1994) were among the first Godzilla movies I ever saw, having watched them as a kid on TV when they aired on The Sci-Fi Channel (Now called "SyFy") in the early 2000's. With that said, I freely acknowledge that the Heisei Godzilla series is not perfect by ANY means (I know for some G-fans, that's putting it mildly), but since I first saw them, they left a huge impression on me and set the stage for my standards and perception of Godzilla movies to this day. I've always viewed the Heisei Godzilla as the definitive version of the character and those movies will always hold a very special place in my heart. In fact, one of the earliest Godzilla drawings I ever did was also based on the Heisei Godzilla, which I drew after re-watching Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, back in either 2003 or 2004 (I didn't date the drawing, so I don't remember the exact year I drew it).

Hell, I even own the 6-inch NECA Godzilla 1994 figure that I keep on the same desk I do all of my drawings on. I even used it as a reference point a couple times while drawing this! lol
