Not a Sonic fan, but this is pretty darn amazing!
The color, the movement, the composition...the whole concept! You did a wonderful job with meshing the cartoon/CGI character with the realistic looking background and making it all work as a whole.
Absolutely striking piece of art!

one, he'd have to run fast enough on land to forget the fact he's running on water. two, if he was running on the wave, he'd have to outrun the break of the wave

The wave does not break at the same speed of Sonic.
Sonic could enter when the wave is breaking.Just at that moment entered and he left before being submerged, in only a seconds!
