Personality:
Astarte is an incredibly shy child. He is fine with being in the same room as strangers as long as they don't talk to him, but he is very easy to intimidate and tends to speak very quietly and reluctantly. He has opened up a lot compared to his childhood days after he entered the circus and might even approach people on his own however. Still, only in situations of great discomfort or if pressured on the topic will he complain to people's faces... but that doesn't mean he won't tattle to his adoptive mother or Master later either way. If you are nice to him he will come to carefully trust you for the time being rather easily actually.

Skills:

Pretty much everything needed around the circus, though with mediocre talent in show acts and an intense stage-fright if expected to act as more than a background helper in an actual show. No real combat ability however.

History:

As his mother had already been an almost lifelong servant, Astarte too was born in servitude. His mother never fully recovered from labor and finally passed away when he was just three years old. Meanwhile the lord made sure to “teach” the boy obedience from early on until he didn't even dare open his mouth unless spoken to, even if he was only in the company of other servants. The only person he really opened up to during this time after his mother's death was Rowena , an elven woman and friend of his mother's who took care of him ever since.

He believed he would spend his entire life in the kitchens and stables under the lord's orders until one early morning when he was eight. Not only was the lord still sleeping after a visit to a circus show the evening prior, but the majority of personnel was asleep as well as it was still too early for morning preparations when his surrogate mother woke him. Of course he did not question her instruction to grab what few personal possessions he had – really just a few clothes – even though he wondered.

It wasn't until she had taken him far away from the mansion that he begun to understand. This was the first time he had ever seen a town from more than stories or pictures... and the first time he had ever so much as approached a circus. But obviously they did not come to see a show as this troupe was busy packing up their things. Astarte clung closer to Rowena as they were led on by a member and even hid behind her when they finally met their leader and she talked to him.

Everyone looked so very foreign to his eyes when he took a look around, but so very different to his tyrannical master that he felt he understood why a circus was supposed to be a place of fun. Even this tall leader of theirs! His shadow was so long, but his colors were so strangely bright and he always had a smile even for his shabby self. More than that even, a rub of the head like what his mother had used to do and a plush dog he proclaimed a welcome gift...

Astarte quickly decided on his loyalty to this new Master . Getting used to life in the circus took him a while with all the new faces and all the attention people suddenly payed him, but he grew to love the place with all his heart and through his high working morale actually became one of the most important (and influential, albeit oblivious of this fact) members even though he never steps on stage.

Carries his plush dog literally everywhere if given the chance to do so.
