Nestly: Ephidell - (Eff-ih-dell) - My main Phashu (vampire) character... Who did not have any good reference to speak of! The last fullbody picture I drew of him was like.. basically the first picture I drew of him... which makes me CRY.I tweaked his design very discreetly, to those who might notice. His clothes, mostly. Nothing big.
I also am experimenting with a new shading style I'm really starting to enjoy.
NESTLY + SHADING = ENJOYMENT?! WHUT?
XD Crazyness! But I am really proud of how it's coming along so far. I'm sure some things are still off, but I'm pleased with this. I think working for Subeta is really helping my shading. Feel free to tell me what you think though! Even if you dislike it.
I didn't think this really called for a background. And I... can't do shadows for crap. Aye. Whatever. I just drew this for his reference sheet I will... get done very soon. Yep.
Now here is some lovely info on Ephidell because many people.. really have the wrong impression of this character. xD
[[-Ephidell stopped aging at 18. And he still acts like a dorkish high-schooler who thinks he's all that. (Seriously, he was a loser when he was mortal.)
-Ephidell never takes anything seriously. Really. He laughs at everything and making fun of people amuses him greatly. That also goes for scaring the living daylights out of poor mortals.
-Ephidell is very different around different people. Pouty, whiny and annoying around one person, rude and uncaring around another, mean and harsh around the next. He's unpredictable and just strange.
-Ephidell is over 100 years old. And he's still a virgin. LOL. ]]
Ephidell: It's not my fault. -3- Hmph.

Well, I'll get used to the new clothes eventually :< I got used to Ryezihk's name. Also HIS SYMBOL IS DIFFERENT BHGHSADJWD?? DB> I thought you were going to change it back to normal from the sketch. YAY, NO STITCHES THOUGH <3 Also no candycorn nails. ;3
The shading IS really nice--but like Centch said, it might look a little better if there WERE some darker spots. It looks kind of flat in the spots where there aren't any folds, especially on his cloak. Not his hair though! 8D That's as shiny and Nestlyfied as ever!
I really like the shading on the tail, though. For someone who doesn't brush his hair, it's very smooth and sleek ;D

That's so weird because I went out of my way to add one last layer to darken the shading. o_O; Which parts exactly..? It's hard to shade smoother surfaces since... there's not as much shading there..?
AND WELL... honestly, that's all me. xD Ephidell's tail is NOT shiny and silky smooth like that. It's usually dull and dirty. Maybe Mhirou snuck up on him with a brush and combed his tail.

Hmm. I think it's just...that the shading really doesn't seem as dark as it usually does? I dunno. It's hard to explain, I guess, but the parts in shadow should be a little darker, I think. NO BIGGIE. :3

Anyway, I've ALWAYS loved Ephidell's hair. Always! It's just so floofy! I want to brush it!~♥ And how exactly do you do that turquoise highlight in his hair? BVHFCJDMKX! Every time I try to put it in it doesn't come out bright enough and looks like poo. ;A;
Is it me... Or did his ears get longer and skinnier. Lawl. 8D *flicks them*
And oh! Now that the picture's colored it, I like the clothes better now. I mean... I STILL think changing them was unnecessary, and I have no idea WHY you didn't like them and felt the need to change them but oh well... You didn't change them majorly so I like them. X3
You know I really like the way you drew his hands, and great job on zee pose. Very cool looking. X3
As far as the shading goes, I honestly don't see too much of a different from the way you usually shade but I must say you did a great job on it. Through perhaps if you went a little darker in some areas, to make it a little more defined it would look even better! :3 But that's just my opinion. Sometimes you don't really need a lot of shading, I just thought it look nice. X3

Ah jeeze, are you serious? I think this shading is really different. o_O; I used to just airbrush one side and blend it so much that you couldn't tell it was inaccurate. This time I actually cell-shaded everything first and smoothed out certain parts, then added a layer of soft-shading in back of it. Man that took so freaking long.

I think adding that layer and soft-shading the back is what's making it seem like your old shading style. I dunno. Maybe it's just me.
