Nestly: ROAR.It's funny how I've roleplayed Quo for like, over a year and never drew her. Jeeze. I'm a slacker.
So this be Quo. Stubborn, Anger Management fledgling of Ephidell. 8D She has some aggression problems; most of them concerned with killing Ephidell or taking his blood. Yar.
Lot of experimenting here.
I've been doing eyes differently like this for a while now, but most of it being on paper. I'll probably be doing them like this for now on.
I like doing clouds. Β¦D
And I had a fit with the flames. They're a little inconsistent since I was trying new things with each bunch. Fire is hard. Dx
Well, I worked my rump off on this, but if you have any advice or suggestions on improving anything, please, go for it. ;3 I'm all ears.
And if anyone's wondering what Quo is, she was originally based off an Angelic Darkonite. XD [link]

Yeah well 8D I know you like to make them big, but don't get ridiculous XD There's a difference between having the eye big and having it going off the face.
Well some of them look alright with that movement--but the thing is they're not all moving the same way, and some of them on her right side in particular just look like they're sticking out and aren't moving with the rest of them.

Nestly: Oh hey, actually I think I know why you think her eye is going off her face. XD See, it's actually not, it just looks like her face is slimmer then it is because of the way her hair curves around her cheek. Like... here: [link]

Well okay. D: If there's one thing I can't do it's comprehending how several hair strands would move in a particular motion on a static picture.

Nice detail and pose. The foreshorting of going into the background looks off a bit. What is throwing it off could be the hand. Since the hand is futher back it should be a bit smaller than the hand that is closest to the viewer.

So now I know why you said making a background for this picture was gunna be tough.. holy mac you ain't kiddin'. D: This picture is really fantabulous Nestly! One of your best from yer recents! 83 It looks like you spent alot of your time on the front part of the hair. ^^ Those eyes are really hypnotic, also. D8 Woooo.. shiny.. They really bring out the picture. =3
I do have one little thing on this picture I'd like to point out though- there is something about the arm that is being drawn back (the right arm while looking at the picture) that seems off as far as anatomy.. I suggest maybe when arms are bending like that you may want to move the hand down just a liiiil' bit, and perhaps make it a little smaller so the perspective seems a bit more.. eh.. aligned. 8D! (We learned about this in my cartooning class and I have alot of trouble with it so yah. D|)
But other then that tiny thing the picture is b-e-a-uuutiful. n_n The effort you put in it is outstanding!~

Woah. o_o;;; This is just... pure win. Her design pwns I love it so much! D8 The background is beautiful. And the eyes are so expressive... but, I thought they were supposed to be red? O.o
Anatomy-wise, you did an awesome job. Something does bother me about the waist though, I think how she's coming forward but her lower half's going straight up looks awkward? O_o I gave the anatomy a good look and nothing wrong, but something still felt off, so I think that's what it was.
And yeah, about time you draw her. xD

Nestly: Thanks Ginny. <3! And oh oh- Quo's eyes are technically red since she's a Phashu, but she has the ability to revert her eye color back to her mortal color. She constantly hides her Phashu features. Reason for the mask.

Yeah the bad thing with my anatomy problems is I can never figure out how exactly to fix something when it looks off.

Oh, cool- I figured why she had the mask, but I didn't know Phashu's could revert their eye color.
It's kinda hard to figure out exactly what the problem is sometimes... I almost didn't mention it because I was having a hard time picking out exactly what the problem was and didn't want to just go, "Something's wrong but I have no idea what, g'luck figuring it out!"

UM. How does Quo fit in the story? XD If I told you exactly you would be here a while and this message would be like pages long. 8D Basically.. ahh.. her and Ephidell don't see eye-to-eye. Ephidell's basically given up on her and refuses to make her independent. But Quo's been under his wing for almost 50 years and can't stand him anymore, so she's trying to get his blood by force, or simply get rid of him altogether.

AnywayβHGUFDKSMD!!! Aw manβ¦ You did a great job following my shading guidelines, but I wish you wouldn't have followed them so accurately! It lacks a lot of depth in the clothes 'cause I cell shaded it there. You really should have when a lot darker in some areas like how I shaded the sleeves and how you shaded the face. D:
I don't really see a difference in the way you draw eyes from the last time I seen you draw them, but they still look nice. Though I probably would have went a little lighter on the glowing blue around the eyes and went a little heavier with the glowing red from the fire. :3
Either way, this is a lovely picture and I'm very proud of it since the anatomy looks great! I hardly had to help you out with it at all! So you're really improving on your own. Excellent job, buddy! Truly wonderful! Keep up the fantastic work!

Nestly: Same here. XD I was gonna be lazy and just blur what I had since I really didn't wanna make it all detailed, but I slapped myself in the face and forced myself to do a good job. >:B

Hmmmm... D: I spent a decent amount of time smoothing out that shading and darkening it. I even darkened the sleeves. XD I guess her body doesn't look shaded as dark because there's so much open space, you know?
You don't? XD The eyes this time are like... the lines are completely connected, and I drew lines to show more of the actual eyelid, and the corner.. uh, I dunno what it's called. 8D I also shined it differently, and the pupil isn't black either. I've ALWAYS made my pupils black. xD
You think there should be more fire glow? I wasn't sure.. I kept adding more of it, and didn't wanna go overboard so I stopped. You think it just needs a smidgen more?

And I know... I just... Am so skittish about where everything should go and how everything should look in my backgrounds. I always want things to come out as perfect as can be so I often rely on references a lot. Which is probably not the best thing to do if I'm using references all the time. ;x;
Hmm... Maybe. But even open space has shading in it. AhβIt's hard to explain really. I should show when I come up in spring.

For example: This picture; I used a ref for the clouds, moon, and several ones for the fire.

Nestly: Ohhhh. XD Hahah, yeah it is hard not to copy too much isn't it? Well you know what's similar and what's not, so just use common sense. I probably would do that as well, but I can never really ever find a reference to exactly what I see in my mind, so it's never really all that similar.

Centurymon: Heh, well... Neither can I, but still. I feel so... Unsafe if I don't use a reference to my exact qualifications. It's the same way how I would really rather use soft plush velour for my plushies than any other material. Or how I get easily lost in my work if the teacher doesn't show me exactly what I need to do.

Hahaha! Actually, yeah, I noticed I did the same thing with Dayu's eyes. Oh well, whatever. I'm not disappointed anymore. It just took me some getting use to. They still look awesome and personally... I think the way you do them now helps you align the pupil better. :3

Heh, yeah, I know what you mean. I have the same problem too sometimes to be honest. Though... You still don't need to have the eyes connected all the way. Just have them connected all the way in the sketch and then don't have them connect in final outline. I dunno... That's what I do, but do whatever you feel is most comfortable. XD (I don't wanna tell you have to draw now.)
Hahaha! I know. To be perfectly honest I like the colored pupils a lot better. But like I stated before, they don't look good on everyone. Like Poppy.

Well I already explained to you why I think the colored pupils don't look very good in Poppy's eyes... I think it's because the ring around her iris gets in the way of that.
QUO! 8D I'd heard you talking about her a couple of times.
Her design is awesome. I love her hair, the style and shading. The hands are good, but her left arm looks a bit short.
But what I REALLY LOVE is the background. <33 The roofs look realistic, and the sky is beautiful. Fire must be HARD to do. D: But you pulled it off nicely here.
