Description Can you spot the real dragon? My Gold Dragon, Li Jeng, is partaking in a Chinese new year's parade. The people on the left are trying to touch her tail, since it's common belief that touching a Gold Dragon will bring good fortune for the next year. Good thing Li doesn't mind it that much.

It's sorta a remake of a much older image: [link]
To celebrate my being here on DA for a year now. It's been great so far,
a belated happy New Year to all of you.

Well, not bad. Even I am Chinese and I still find it amazing to make such picture to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Something bugging me is most of the artists are rare to do research or understanding on using Chinese letters. Some do asking for help, but mostly they'll just go along with imagination.

Ha, and does touching a Gold Dragon bring good fortune?
I'll admit that I have no idea what the letters stand for.

Well, depends on local places in China, some do touching it for fortune, but some place is rather unique, either making a show along with it, or breaking it.

As for the letter, I can say these are shop names but horizontally reversed.

Well, as I understand it the year of the dragon is a rather popular year among the Chinese, no?

It IS the most popular one, frankly, it just almost went into peak when people mention about dragons, such as wedding or child birth are picking up this year.

Hmh, which are the other signs by the way?

Mostly equals. Only Dragon happens to peak.
