I recently caught Mewtwo in Pokemon Leaf, and proceeded to OWN the Elite Four with him. I see now why Mewtwo is liked so widely in the Pokemon community (and why he wound up in Super Smash Bros Melee). Then I got to thinking ... he's a lot like Shadow. The escaped experiment and everything. So here's a pic of them griping about the way their writers created them. XDRelated content

Mewtwo should star in his own game like Shadow did. It's going to have a darker storyline and maybe be the first and only Pokemon game to get an E10+ rating from ESRB.

Yeah, and maybe Red (Dark Side Boss like Sonic), Green (Neutral Boss like Eggman), and Giovanni (Hero Side Boss like Black Doom) as the antagonists.

you cant compare the two... theyre from different universes, with different rules. i developing a manga in which the protagonist is a wizard. fancy? well, this protagonist can SHOOT PLANETS. can you possibly compare him to Eragon? who shoots a tiny flaming arrow? however, he is ACTUALLY an average wizard. the ultimate antagonist can... create black-holes and disrupt the fabric of reality.
the same way, in his own universe Shadow con possibly move as fast (or even faster than sonic, since he can teleport), but pack a much bugger punch. Mewtwo is a psychic pomemon that, altough powerfull, can eventually be taken down. however, in his own universe, as well, he is absolutely OP.

Screw attack is an awful example, but you're absolutley right, any two entities can be pitted against each other. War-therapy just needs more imagination.

it makes it EVEN more evident when you think back to the edited out scene invloving a young Mewtwo be-friending a young daughter of a scientist being cloned who sadly perished being a failure but she told him that he's much more than a clone...

I saw the shadow/Mewtwo lab experiment similarity too! Their stories are so sad, yet interesting.

Keep in mind, Mewtwo was bent on world domination. Shadow just helped Dr Robotnik, but then saved the world from the finalhazard

I was thinking of their back stories, what made them into the way they were. Both had tragic events. And, come to think of it, both had a close human friend that showed them love and kindness only to be harshly taken away from them forever. That's what I was kind sympathizing about (I use "kind of" because they are fictional characters anyway. Lol)
And I like characters that have a story that explains/gives some sort of reason behind their actions. I like how Mewtwo and shadow represent the impact of one's choices, how they reacted they way they did yet still had the possibility to choose a different path and does so in the end. Makes an interesting story. They both become good in the end anyway.

I say Mewtwo and Shadow are at the same level. Mewtwo killed the scientists in the lab that he was created in. Although he didn't kill the team rocket boss, Giovanni.
They both have cool character designs and abilities.

I like both of them. But I do like Shadow better, just to let you know.
Could be because Pokemon is more of a nostalgic sort of thing for me. (Mewtwo is still my fave Pokemon though). It's a completely different story for fave cartoon character however.
And another reason I like the character, Shadow is that I like stuff with extraterrestrials in it. XD
This is now way off topic, but there's a scifi book I'm currently reading you might be interested in, if scifi and young adult books are your interest: Icons by Margaret Stohl. I'm halfway through it right now and it's pretty good. You mentioning aliens and annihilation reminded me of the book, which is why I'm mentioning it. Lol.
I wish Sega made a sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog btw. That game was interesting.

... I'd say they would be an even match against each other, since Mewtwo is the clone of Mew and would presumably have the same abilities and level of power. Although Mewtwo was called the "world's most powerful Pokemon" in the movie... Idk really. Who do you think is more powerful?
And what's up with this: Mewtwo comes before Mew in the number order on the pokedex. Did they come up with Mew before Mewtwo in creating the characters for the game or something?

I don't think so. Rhydon was the 1st character created by game freak, but bulbasaur is no.001 in the Pokedex. I'd say it's mewtwo because of how he won't show mercy
