Reefer Madness was originally a movie, portraying the "evils" of Cannabis. I had once a collection of posters from the movement that spawned from it, which was the prime reason marijuana was made illegal in the United States (and within a period of time in other countries, as the U.S. has that well known tendency to inflict their just-apparently moral rea$ons upon the rest of the planet).

The post I remember the best depicted a black huge devil, in contrast with flames (symbol for "Hell", obviously), and mothers crying while holding up their dead sons (which were as they wanted to portray, killed by marijuana, even though -- as any chimpanzee knows today -- there has never been a documented case of death caused by marijuana).

My collection was lost in an HD crash, but eventually I ran across these four scan collages of books from that era. The images are public domain, as their copyrights expired, and the authors are long gone, thankfully.

If watched today, the movie is pretty comical. But at the time it was shown, the general audience had no other source of information.

I find this a pretty interesting subject. Cannabis was made illegal by false propaganda that inflicted the idea that its users became uncontrollably violent, rapists, homossexuals, perma-insane, among other non-sensical adjectives, while under its effects. One of the primary reasons behind this scheme was that Cannabis was a direct menace to the cotton market, creating concern among wealthy and influent cotton-farmers.

Not all of the images in these collages refers directly to marijuana, but are somehow linked to the fringe stirred up by the false propaganda.
