Description Size: 1.2-2.6 meters
Range: North Arteria
Distinguishing features:  Large shingle-like scales along back, thick armored tail, generalist animal
Description:  The largest of the rattlers which are a large family of rodents that have evolved large scales out of hair.  When two rattlebacks encounter each other, they will rattle the scales and hiss until one retreats and these rarely fight but when they do they will claw, bite, and push till one gets to the ground and then the victor will rip the shingle like scales off.  They also have armor plates on the neck and head which protects them from raptor attacks.  If they encounter a terror bird or raptor, they will crouch down,  digging large spikes into the dirt which prevents the predators from flipping it.  They are mainly herbivores but they will eat small insects, eggs of dinosaurs, other mammals, fish, and even reptiles.  They also have a thick club tail which can cause damage if the scales pinch a limb or skin of a predator.  They live for around 50 years and are great parents.

These animals are the draconian versions of the rattlebacks from the television show The Future is Wild.
