Description
"Mark of the blade, mercy on a blazing field,
Fostered in the honor of the oldest codes.
Fates at the stake, all across the centuries,
Blood upon the banners where the fires flow."

Strike is a rock drake, a young dragonling of a fledgling 700 years and of the earthly persuasion. Dragons of this world are elemental incarnations of primeval fire, mingled with either air (flames) or earth (lava) - Strike is a member of the latter archetype and an absolute prime specimen of his race, as dragon as dragons can be. They can theoretically grow to the size of mountains or more, capable of reshaping the geography of continents, but are so engaged in constantly culling each other that few ever make it that far. In the volcanic badlands of the south where they make their homes, bathe in lava or dive for gold and gems in the deep, they wage constant war against each other. They represent the unflinching ideal that strength must flourish and that if they themselves are weak they too must be purged - they are natural selection given form.
Strike, as the equivalent of a human teenager, remains comparatively small and powerless, still roughly humanoid in size and appearance, but as most of his kin is convinced that he is destined for greatness and will throw himself against any challenge posed in order to beat down, dominate and overcome. Primal and bestial, he scoffs at the fetchings of civility, letting his pure, unbridled strength and fury do the work for him.
This, however, has very recently been eroded by his exposure to the kind of strength the civilized races of the north can wield when he stood in a duel against a paladin of the Spirit of Loyalty, the Storm Prince, the Equestrian deity of ambition, strength, protection and belonging. This clash of savage beast and noble knight has left him craving the strength his contestant wielded and has ultimately lead him to accept an apprenticeship under the paladin - he has already taken step within the faith and already the deity has begun reforming his spirit in the image of a noble protector, and with that faith comes power.
