"The Romulans kept coming. They fought to the last ship even when the odds are against them. They never surrendered and never retreated. They came in hordes without warp drive or any means of faster than light flight. No one was able to figure out how these ships where able to reach another solar system, let alone invade it. That is until readings from the Cheron system showed indications of massive graviton surges in which a scouting mission lead to the discovery of a transwarp accelerator constructed inside an asteroid large enough to send whole fleets of ships to other solar systems, taking them without warning.

In 2160, a massive campaign lead a whole fleet of ships to the Cheron system to destroy the accelerator. Though costly, its destruction halted the Romulan advance forcing the invaders trapped in other systems to destroy themselves ending the war."
