I found this lovely pin-up art on another DeviantArt user's profile (X-Men Team Pin-Up ), and couldn't help but wonder what would happen if I applied my own interpretation of the colors from the issue of X-Men (X-Men #1) that he took inspiration from. It turned out pretty good.
I made some major changes to a character or two. I never liked the color scheme of Jean's from her X-Men Cartoon outfit, and thought it could have looked better with her Marvel Girl/Phoenix colors. It doesn't look horrible, but I get the feeling the outfit I found here (The X-Men by Jim Lee (1989-ish, unused promo page) ) would have been so much more awesome on the printed page. But it's something. I'm not super-happy with Cyclops, but it's something to break up all the yellow.

I've also made an alternate version, using the colors of the day (seen here: X-Men Team Pin-Up (Classic) by Christopher Stevens ), because I figure I'd be lynched if I made these modifications alone.
