Maria is a student at the New Vex Military Academy; a girl who has shown great aptitude for hand-to-hand combat, although her marksmanship leaves much to be desired. Because of this, her training at the academy has primarily focused on the use of short-range weapons (like the beamsword), as well as martial arts and self-defense. Nevertheless, she also performs well in the rest of her subjects, and she is a diligent and dedicated girl, as expected of a student at the Military Academy.
She belongs to Stratum Fünfte, where people who, while not outstanding, are hardworking and dedicated, can be found. Many of the individuals in the higher strata started out as Fünfte. Her mother is a basic human (which means a person with no gifts at all), while her father has the gift of Polymelia. People can't inherit gifts, but it simply happened that Maria has the saim gift as her father, something that, although is extremely rare, has occurred enough times to not be considered a miracle either.

Although the Military Academy is one of the most demanding institutions in the nation, there is still room for enriching hobbies, so Maria takes advantage of these times to explore the city and do typical teenage things like going to the movies, museums, spending time with her academy peers, and so on. She enjoys recording what she does and sharing it on her social networks, which in New Vex, is a place where positive feedback is highly encouraged.
