Completely understandable. Sometimes you just want to strike out and try new things that aren't necessarily related. If anything, I imagine it's a great way to experiment with new methods and techniques. Who knows? Sometimes when you're getting the chance to explore some concepts, by fleshing them out, sometimes it's the act alone of giving it more life that makes it gel more smoothly.
For real, if ever you get the graphic novel to print, I'll happily see about paying up for it, including shipping. If this novel is going to be anything like what I've been seeing so far, I know it's going to be a feast on my eyes!
