Description
I have had the reference book "Doughboy To GI : US Army Clothing And Equipment 1900 - 1945" since I was a kid. I liked watching old War Movies and was interested in the stuff the soldiers were using. My Grandfather was also in the Army Air Forces during WW2. My Mom had three Uncles in the Marine Corps. My reference book was mainly just photos of one guy's collection of militaria and didn't have an example of every US Military issued item. Sometimes I see something not in my extensive reference book. I have been trying to make an effort to study equipment from other periods and nations.I have seen many Second World War era portable power generators. The one shown here in this photo set is twice the size of the WW2 era generators. I believe it to be ranging in date between the Korean War to the Vietnam War. It has a "DA" Defense Administration number, not a "DSA" Defense Supply Administration number. I think it might be from the Korean War era or at least the late 1950s in age. Military items start to have a "DSA" number attributed to them in the late 1950s to the early 1960s. In 1978 the "DSA" number changed to "DLA" Defense Logistics Administration. I believe WW2 items do not even have a "DA" number, that started being used during the Korean War era. The generator shown here probably once had a canvas cover like older WW2 era generators. I have seen WW2 era generators both marked to the Army and the Navy.
