Description (I'm going to tweak this whole thing, ref included. Her personality is starting to settle and the outfit could use some tweaking.)

((Scratch that, I'm making a new ref...))

Name: Kakei
Height: 4'6.5" (138.4 cm.)
Weight: 86.5 lbs. (39.2 kg.)
Age: About 21-22
Gender: Female
Species: Etea
Town: Sen’nahat Desert

Personality: Kakei is very loud and could be described as high-strung. She doesn't usually mean harm, but she ends up stepping on some toes. She's a bit snarky at times. Kakei has a short fuse; especially with certain things (she absolutely hates being manhandled and will not have it, for example). Kakei tends to bury and/or bottle up any sad emotions she has -she dislikes showing people her weak side. Crying is very rare for her, even when she's alone; she's become so used to ignoring and pushing aside the sad stuff. Kakei is easily startled, but she mostly gets over it quickly (as quickly as possible to save as much of her dignity as possible). She loves the water (even frozen as snow), and doesn’t do well in hot weather. She absolutely adores fish... as food... raw, preferably. It's quite possibly her very favorite food in the whole wide world. Kakei tends to be just a bit impulsive. She also seems a little cocky at times (mostly to compensate for being scared). She is very athletic. Kakei has a phobia of syringes (and surgery, to an extent: more of a fear than a phobia). She’s also terrified at the prospect of her own death. She is very good with mechanical things, especially guns and other weapons. Kakei doesn't enjoy causing harm and avoids it unless she has to defend herself or another person. Kakei will fight to the death for something she believes in (along the lines of liberty for country and people or saving a friend). When fighting, Kakei would prefer to use sneaky guerilla tactics than face-to-face fights (she doesn’t believe in fighting fair -it’s stupid to her) and she will run away if she has the option (not if she’s protecting someone who can’t run with her). She doesn't know where she learned how to fight so well -it's like second nature to her.
Don’t Make Kakei: Cry a lot -she's not a crybaby. Act girly; yes, she's female, but she's very tomboyish (and Etea females are the more aggressive of the two sexes). Attack first -she may start yelling first, but she isn't violent when she's mad, just loud. Exceptions: If you want to do a silly, derpy OOC picture, I'm totally okay with that (and will probably appreciate the joke). These are just things she wouldn’t normally do unless she’s under pretty serious stress (except for acting girly… she’d have to be high on cactus juice to do that). <3

A Bit of a Species Bio (skip if you want -not vital):
Kakei’s saliva has a toxin in it -when applied to an open wound, it creates an intense burning sensation (same if she bites). Her species has a natural immunity to it. It’s not strong enough to kill anything around her general size or bigger, only to make the victim sick for a while (the effects aren’t immediate, but they’re fairly serious; death can occur if the victim is severely weakened). Symptoms include a fever, nausea, and vertigo (she refrains from biting people unless she’s severely freaked out or in danger). Her eyes are encased in a clear ‘shell.’ This shell feels somewhat like plastic to the touch. The purpose of this is to keep the eye protected when diving into the water to catch fish (it evolved from the same type of third, clear eyelid birds have). Her hair really isn’t hair; it’s a collection of smaller antennae. They’re somewhat dexterous, but are mostly used to pick up changes in air pressure. The two larger ones are dexterous and are mainly for touching and hearing (they’re stronger than her arms, too). She has breathing orifices in her back -six of them- as well as being able to breathe through her mouth. Her species is native to a very low-oxygen planet (she has devices in her airways to prevent oxygen poisoning). She can breathe in water for a limited time (30 minutes is the average; Kakei can go for a little longer). Kakei has hollow, air-inflatable wings tucked away in special pouches wrapping around her ribcage and abdomen (can help with impact trauma, ballast for swimming, and even extending underwater breathing time). They’re connected to the respiratory system. They can become damaged fairly easily, so when she’s not using them for flying, she keeps them tucked away. She prefers to sleep hanging from a perch upside-down, but when she has to sleep on the ground, she’ll sleep on her side. She has a second row of retractable teeth that can pop out in front of her usual ones -they’re much like a shark’s and are good for tearing flesh. Her species has a high metabolism, so she needs to eat frequently to keep up her strength and maintain her weight. Females of her species change colors every Season (once every two years, give or take). Kakei’s colors are white, cyan, and orange for that time (). Her blood color is blue-violet, and her insides are about the same color, although sometimes they look purple. Her upper body strength is laughable, but she can kick pretty damn hard. However, because she’s small and light, the chances of her landing any heavy hits are smaller. For this reason, she is prone to run rather than fight (would stand no chance against something bigger (even a human could easily overpower her in a no-weapons fight if it weren’t for her fighting skill). Kakei needs to ‘preen’ regularly to keep water-repellant oil on her skin. The oil comes from a special kind of water plant found around her home. It’s mostly to help her dry off quickly if she gets wet (her kind hunt for fish much like sea birds) because she doesn’t have much protection against losing body heat (for this reason, her kind’s clothes are very good at drying, as well). This is less important for her because she is in the desert. Her species has a dead-accurate memory; this can be a good thing (for remembering faces, names, places, and other things like that), but also a very bad thing (they remember all the bad things in excruciating detail). For this reason, memory loss in her kind is especially frightening.

I hope this helps you guys get an idea of what my brainchild is like (there’s so much information because I’ve been working on her and her species for a few years). I haven’t added bits about her history here because she doesn’t remember it so it’s irrelevant to Hetherev. Feel free to ask questions, though -I don’t bite, I swear! And I’m not going to overreact if you don’t keep Kakei’s character 100% accurately (that would be silly to expect). I realize I’m going to be making a lot of mistakes with other people’s characters, as well. ^^ So feel free to tell me what I did wrong, too, ‘cause I’d like to know for future reference.

You can draw Kakei in anything group-related (or not, I just like seeing my character drawn). Just make sure I get to see the finished and submitted-to-dA art (not because I want to make sure it’s ‘acceptable’ but because I want to see it). If you’re not sure I’ll be okay with it or something, feel free to ask. I’m pretty lenient; don’t let the wall of text fool you. I just figure it’s nice to know a lot about the character you’re drawing.

If you’re interested in role playing over notes, or something, I’m totally up for that. And don’t be afraid to talk. I’m joining this group to reach out to the community, so I’d love to make a new cyberfriend or two.

And you get a cookie if you read all of that. XD
