Historical Records of Remnant > Reclamation of Beacon > Rose finds Smaug

It has been nearly a year since the dragon has been seen. No longer petrified at the top of beacons tower, he had evolved in the depths of the castle.

Nearly doubling in size, his features also grew bigger, wings, longer neck, and even sharper talons.

While he was still sleeping, he began to catch the smell of something new in his lair. The scent of a rose.

Ruby tried her best to hide from the waking beast, but before she knew it, she was trapped in his gaze. "Ahhh. There you are thief in the shadows." Smaug said with what could be guest as a grin in his teeth.

"You… you can talk?" Ruby blurted out.

"Does that surprise you?" Smaug asked his grin still on his face.

"Yes. I've n-never met a Grimm that could talk before. Y-You are clearly not like any other Grimm I have encountered, Smaug." Ruby said with some slight stuttering. She couldn't help but stutter at a beast that could easily kill her in a heartbeat.

"'Smaug'? Is that what they chose to call me now?" Smaug said as he lifted is head up, looking at the ceiling as he was thinking over his name. "Yes-s…" He hissed, "That does fit."
