My footsteps have become almost silent, ghost-like, an essential trait of survival among these vast tree graves.

The trees that tower around me like sentinels have bark like charcoal, their trunks as black and vast as the darkness they hold within them. Among these black giants I feel like an insignificant creature wandering in the unknown depths.

But the dangers are not only in the nature of this place. These forests are home to a multitude of creatures, their silhouettes slipping between the trees like ghosts in the mist. Snow-white eyes can suddenly appear in the gloom, and the growls and murmurs of the dark creatures fill the air with unsettling sounds. They are careful to keep their secrets, and an encounter with them can be momentous.

And despite the darkness, I stand out in this forest. My long cloak of dark scarlet color, like a drop of blood amidst the gloom, gives me identity and resilience in this lightless world. With each step, it rustles and sways like an inner fire, reminding me of my purpose.
