Description

So this is my second attempt at the Aurora borealis. I made a different one after this because as much as I liked it I just felt I could do even better with this concept. Still I did want to put it up because it really is a piece I'm quite proud of. Not to mention, I ended up giving this one as a gift to my half brother who just graduated from University after 10 years of schooling in the arts.

Besides what is in the sky everything else is shadows and silhouette with no real detail since if you where looking at this from afar everything that is not in the sky just pales in comparison and would not exactly have your focus. Also in the dark that's what everything and everyone looks like especially in an outdoor environment like this.

The setting takes place in the mountains at a high elevation. The rabbit is a reference to the Japanese folktale of the Rabbit on the Moon (Tsuki no Usagi) which is a rather interesting story with a great moral to it. It also inspired the main character of one of my favorite anime’s Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon who’s Japanese name is Usagi Tsukino.
