A older scarred loner traveling the land on her own terms and her own whims. Shaggy Mane goes where she wants to go and doesn't care much for boundaries. She is stout for a Painted Dog but it serves her well as she is immensely strong. Shaggy Mane has seen and won many battles and every scar she has on her body, she is proud of.

She is captured by Cloudchaser's pack and after a brief scuffle, they decide to keep her prisoner, making her work as a guard until they can figure out what to do with her. Crude, rude and grumpy, Shaggy Mane has not made herself likeable to any of the pack and doesn't seem to want to get to know them. The only one she seems to interact with is Cloudchaser, mostly by making fun of her and taking her out to try hunting and fighting and when that doesn't work, she only taunts her more. Eventually during these outings, Shaggy Mane becomes a little less grumpy, at least around Cloudchaser. Shaggy Mane is aware that she is seen as intimidating to the younger dog and that is part of the reason she takes her out for these outings. It's fun seeing the younger dog squirm.

Shaggy Mane's bracelets were passed down to her from her mother who got it from her mother. It is as cherished to her as the scars on her body. It may have some king of hidden power. The scars on Shaggy Mane's right leg were from a lion and as such she walks with a bit of a limp, but she doesn't let it slow her down and she often pushes herself despite her injury.
