The black and white and DOF work very well here. I also like the composition; normally putting something right in the middle, especially when it's something as radially symmetrical as a flower, doesn't work well. But then you upset the balance with the the blur of the vase/cup in the background, really giving it a sense of movement and growth.
I also like the water spill. Adds texture.
