Holy wow. 6 months in the making, 8 comics, thousands of layers, hundreds of hours of work. It was worth it.
I hope you enjoyed this series as much as I have. A few things to note about this comic:
* Some of the panels are drawn, not vectored. This is "Tumblr Practice" as I'm considering starting an ask Tumblr
* Now that you know that Crabapple has loved Willow pretty much since they met, some of the other scenes through the comic should make more sense. For example, why he went almost nuts when Willow and the Princess were unconscious. It wasn't the Princess that drove him mad.
* Does something seem... familiar about the two heart healer ponies under Willow? It should. Think a few comics back... Their cutie marks each have significant meaning as well.
* Maybe you're picking up on a few hints that I'm throwing out there. That Crabapple and Willow founded Ponyville. They did. Remember when Twilight said "Earth ponies founded Ponyville hundreds of years ago"? I believe she meant "Non magical ponies" meaning that having it founded by Earth/Pegasus makes sense which is why they use both to wrap up winter (but not magic). As for Granny Smith's account, let's just pretend that Ponyville was abandoned for some reason and Celestia saw the appropriateness of returning it to the Apple family when they came through.

Okay, so I'm just guessing here, as I haven't seen it spelled out anywhere.
Rock is Loyalty
Crabapple is Honesty
Luau is Laughter
Rose Petal is Kindness
Winter Willow is Generosity

You have kindness and generosity backwards, but I get that a lot. Empathy/kindness is Willow's trait. Generosity is Rose's (selflessness).

Ah, that makes sense. But I can see why it gets reversed. Willow seems to put others before herself a lot in this comic, more than I've noticed with Rose. And Rose reminds a lot of people of Fluttershy I think, including me.
So each of the Mane Six (minus Twilight) is descended from these five? Did I read that right in the other comic?

See, THERE it makes more sense that Rose is a unicorn and Willow is a pegasus. XD
As far as the two heart healer ponies under Willow, they were foals in the page on Willow, right? The yellow one looks as if she could be an ancestor of Diamond Tiara or Screwball.
You've done beautifully on this comic! I can't say I'm not envious. I've wanted to do my own MLP comic, but it would seem I don't have that focus or something. Even though I've worked on other projects for as many as two years straight.

I spent many nights before falling asleep and many car rides too and form work polishing and refining the story. Then it was just a matter of making it happen

Can I ask what programs you use? Photoshop/Illustrator? I usually end up drawing the pictures in my sketchbook and then digitally dressing them up in those programs. Haven't adjusted to the tablet yet.

For these comics its mostly illustrator. The obviously drawn parts and lighting, shading, effects, text, etc are all done in Photoshop.
The tablet is not helpful when doing vectors in Illustrator, but it's invaluable for Photoshop.

I mostly use Illustrator for cleaning up a drawing once I've inked and colored in Photoshop. And honestly, I've inked over my drawings with my trackpad for so long that I'm actually better at it than with the tablet.

Maybe Ponyville just never grew much bigger and was always just a few little homes. And when Granny Smith came it truly began to grow. (And while we are on the subjects of possibilities) Maybe Granny Smith or someone else in the Apple family married Crabapple's decedent.
