Meet my one and only human oc. They are a traveling wizard and magic stick merchant. Their staff can sprout new sticks. The process is theatrical so those sticks fetch quite a good price. Another talent they poses is to animate small figurines which can be used as Erins eyes and ears.
Magic is tricky and most of the time more difficult than just doing things manually. It’s all about how much you believe in it and if you can convince others that magic is happening, and then it does. Magical duels are always a sight to see. Two wizards trying to convince each other that they are being turned into a frog or a chicken. The more you know about how magic works the more you are susceptible to it. That’s why it’s good to have a small figurine of your likeness in sight at all times so you don’t get confused of who and what you are.
It can be very tedious and most people just decide they don’t believe in magic and all those shenanigans or they decide it must be some kind of trick. It makes them more or less immune to it so you can’t really blame them.
