Wow! This picture has so many layers. My first thought was: "oh, nice, ballet" Then I noticed the swans, which, I at least; tend to associate with something pretty and nice (although those suckers can really bite), but their position is very conflicting. As is the tortured pose of the dancer. Ballet is often like that. It looks nice, but I bet it hurts doing it. Then I noticed the blood which took me in a different direction alltogether. And the quote fits the picture perfectly.

In this image, I saw a mortal who earned her wings the wrong way...
and they've manifested upon her chest rather than her back...
Β backwards
in a most literal sense -
destined to land on her back, launched to the ground;
pecking insolence of one's own device.
The swan necks are confrontational...
Β a snake-like travesty.
The goose IS the gander, in a sense.
Meanwhile, a case of trench-foot festers
Β untreated for years and years, she stands hard-toed in stagnation.
This image made me reel.
Felt to me like this individual is SUPERIOR in the discipline department;
but a product of something questionably Darwinistic;
a human carved out of the age old debate... "nature vs. nurture".
Things evolve and beat their own path, hence it is a rare breed of survival.
I adore this.
The complexity of this creation is very mindful.
It is also refreshingly simple through its balanced sense of honesty.
