The legend says this is the tomb of a king. Some even believe a god is buried here.
Nothing is further from the truth.
The runes do say it, though: their names are engraved in the rock. But no one today recognizes these symbols anymore. Not even the Wise, the "Scholars" as they call themselves, know what they are talking about when they mention their legend.
That is why nobody walks this wood nowadays. But this forgotten tomb is not forgotten by me.
And only I know why these pale branches attract Vil'mynes, these birds of such a pure white color that find shelter here, while their homeland is so far to the East.
And when I see them flee as I come closer, I think about this dreadful day during which I made the most terrible of mistakes. And when I see that only two of these wretched birds stay in front of each other on one of the branches, I cannot help myself but see us, you and me, facing each other.
You and your astounding pride!⦠And me⦠me with my treasured jealousy.
And as I get nearer, I realize that a branch, somewhat somber than any other, is not what it seems, but is a sword, your sword. The very one with which I killed you. Imaginary tears run down my scraggy cheek as I remember that with this dire blade I also, in my blinded fury, opened the belly of the very object of both our incommensurate love.
She who managed, with her viscera clumsily held by one hand but still flowing to the ground, to throw me this evil curse of eternity of which I am still the victimβ¦

Very atmospheric, you've captured that scattered and chaotic essence of autumn very well with the piece, along with it's wonderful chromatic balance. All of which is accentuated amazingly by the ethereal scene in the centre, the human acting as a wonderful conduit for the viewer to not be elienated by the scene. The purity of the scene in the middle in fact in itself linked to the autumn now that I think about it, in fact the half light that you get so often and the chaotic mix of colours is in beautiful balance with the ethereal tree.
