I had a lot of fun working on this! I've never really drawn out any of my character's backstories in-depth before, and was happy to do so here!

Milky Quartz was created at a kindergarten run by a gem known as Heliodor. Heliodor's kindergarten specialized in creating gems with rare, often dangerous abilities using experimental methods. However, most of the gems planted in her kindergarten emerge highly defective, and those that do emerge often end up corrupting soon after emerging; Milky was one of the lucky ones.

Due to the nature of her abilities, Milky was soon sent to join White Diamond's army. She was assigned to a small fleet whose sole purpose was to seek out and put an end to colony rebellions, as well as to provide shows of force to any hostile species encountered by the Authority. Her abilities were used to trap and capture any fleeing gems, and assisted in the extraction of information from captured rebels.

As time passed, better soldiers with more effective abilities were created, and Milky was retired from service (Milky was not present at the Earth Rebellion due to being retired long before its beginning). Instead of being bubbled, recycled, or harvested, she was gifted to a noble of White Diamond's court. She was passed from court to court, and eventually ended up in the court of a Moonstone, far from the reaches of the Authority. This Moonstone enjoyed throwing extravagant parties and exhibitions to display her vast collection of art and curios. Although she was not a display herself, Milky was often brought up as a prized possession of sorts, and was pushed to use her abilities for the entertainment of the gathered crowds.

It was at one of these exhibitions where Milky Quartz first encountered Red Rose Diamond.
