Description Also known as the Common European Ghoul. These bat-like beasts do well in thick forest, mountainous regions so long as there are plenty of caves, and cities. As their name implies this sub-species of ghoul originate from Europe and have since spread to almost all continents following exploring Europeans.

Vampires are mostly nocturnal and have excellent night vision. They need some sort of shelter during the day as their skin easily burns in the sun. Vampires are highly territorial and will only tolerate sharing part of its territory with members of the opposite sex or closely related individuals, and the number of vampires in an area is determined by the available prey. Thus there tends to be more vampires in cities and large towns than most other places.

Prey: They will feed on nearly anything they can overpower. This includes cats, dogs, cattle, humans, deer, werewolves, young dragons and unicorns, sheep, pigs, and some shapeshifters. Depending on how often they feed and the size of their prey they will also consume internal organs and some muscle tissue along with the blood.

Hunting Methods: Vampires usually use two different methods. The first method is ambush hunting where the chosen prey is stalked then pounced upon when either alone or with not very credible witnesses. If hunting this way the vampire will use its fangs or claws to slice open the throat or belly and will use its powerful arms to hold the dying creature down as it laps up the blood. The second method is seduction, when it will use physical shapeshifting to fool the chosen prey species to get close enough to single out a member. Once the prey is singled out the vampire will use a form of hypnosis to render the victim compilable as it drains it of blood. The prey is more likely to survive the seduction method.

Predators: Packs of werewolves are known to occasionally kill vampires. Mun-u'manta regularly kill them and sometimes cure those in the first few phases of turning. Dragons eat them and steal their caves. Unicorns tend to kill anything that tries to kill them. Regular humans have sometimes killed the turning or freshly turned. Also, improperly and irresponsibly turned vampires may become vampire hunters.

Weaknesses: Sunlight can cause bad skin burns, overheating, and dehydration. They can also be temporarily blinded by bright light. Excessively loud noises and strong odors cause them discomfort. These demonicly descended creatures can be harmed with forms of light magic. Can become very weak if they don't eat enough regularly. They cannot fly well.

Strengths: They can live for centuries if they can find enough food and avoid getting killed. Have some of the best night vision in the world and can sense body heat. They heal quickly when they are regularly fed and are very strong. They also have very acute hearing.

Reproduction: Vampires can turn members of prey species into vampires by regularly feeding off them to the edge of death and giving them their blood. Shapeshifted vampires can mate with prey and sometimes this produces part vampire offspring called dhampyrs that can become more vampiric as they age. Offspring produced in both manors are seen as inferior to the products of vampireXvampire matings.
