Nightsnake is the largest of the Darksider communities on Mercury. It is a 2,440-kilometer-long train, with ~6,000 rail cars, each 60 meters wide, on a colossal railroad wrapping around the whole of Mercury's equator. Nightsnake's engine and caboose peak just barely on the edge of dusk and dawn, respectively, with large, elevated solar arrays soaking up sun-rays from just over the horizon. Nightsnake has a population of around 7.74 million, mostly humans and AI's, with an economy built on cold-forges and server banks; the cold-forges are where extracted stellar matter harvested from the sun's photosphere is cooled and refined into useful elements, while the Nightsnake's server banks are able to avoid overheating and therefore allow for high-end computational operations, such as financial services, emulating digitized human consciousnesses, or hosting expansive virspace territories just as subjectively real as "meatspace".
