Description dAmnColors - 0.7.1-stable.dAv7
This script is for Greasemonkey .

Update: dAmnColors now has an official Twitter (dAmnColors). Follow it for the latest news and updates.

This script was tested to work in Firefox and Netscape Navigator 9, it will probably work in a browser that allows JS injection that is not IE. Works with FF3 and the new JS engine.

The password reset script is here . Do NOT note me to reset your password, as the note will be silently ignored.

Original idea credit goes to ~ManjyomeThunder , preview image credit goes to !Kyogo , server funding and general uptime brought to you by @mackattack23 .

Watching me is suggested to get the latest dAmncolors updates. NEW: You can also follow dAmnColors' Twitter.

(The actual deviation is here.)

Features:
Intended as a replacement for the somewhat-annoying shadowdAx, this script colorizes your messages, and allows you to see other dAmnColors users' colors. The script is fully compatible with the latest Greasemonkey update.

Changelog:

Version 0.7.1 - 18 May 2010
  • Photofroggy's unofficial new wrapper script has been integrated into the official branch. Updated to work with v7. Less bugs now, hopefully.

Version 0.6.1 - 17 February 2009
  • Official announcement of the dAmnColors password reset script, available here . From this point forward, any notes regarding password resets will be silently ignored.

Version 0.6.1 - 24 September 2008
  • Not meriting another minor version increment, several odd "MySQL error" bugs were worked out, as a backend fault failed to pass on connect errors up through the abstraction layer, there was no actual content in the used variables. This has been fixed, and the underlying problem pinpointed to the MySQL server being overloaded with connections, a situation out of my immediate control.

Version 0.6 - 21 June 2008
  • The much awaited compatibility fix for FireFox 3 is out. Report any bugs encountered either by note or by comment.

Version 0.5 - 24 May 2008
  • Various backend changes related to reliability, speed, and CPU usage.
  • Fixed various complaints about bugs related to data submission errors.
  • Tenative password reset feature in the wors that uses dA passwords to validate with dA server.

Version 0.4 - 09 April 2008
  • Updated to work with dAmn 0.9. If you installed before 0.9, you MUST reinstall.

Version 0.3 - 23 January 2008
  • The script is now compatible with the latest Greasemonkey update.

Version 0.2b - 15 January 2008
  • Server change, the actual number of users was affecting #iRPG, which is hosted on the same server.

Version 0.2b - 12 January 2008
  • Fixed the problem where people were not getting prompts, for those who were affected, uninstall the userscript, then re-install.

Version 0.1b - 10 January 2008
  • Changed code to allow for minimal to no refreshing needed.

Version 0.1a - Initial release
  • Semi-friendly series of prompts to create a new user and change colors.

  • Automatic refreshing of color list from the database, with caching to reduce bandwidth usage.

  • Greasemonkey script commands to manually refresh the color list and change your colors.

How to use:
Simply install in your GreaseMonkey, then reload a dAmn window to start using. After following the prompts, you can change your color at any time by right-clicking on the monkey icon in your Firefox browser bar, mousing over "User script commands", then clicking on "change user color". All colors are in hex format (#RRGGBB).

Right now registration is done through the userscript, however if abuse is suspected, registration will have to be down via bot in a chatroom.

Suggestions? Comments? Please do tell.

To Install:
To install this, you need Greasemonkey.

This script has long since stopped working. Not to mention NOL is no longer active. Chromacity would be a better alternative, but that script is a bit outdated too, though I talked to the host of that script and I was told that the script will be updated in a timely manner.

So, any chance that you might be fixing dAmn Colors? If anything I would like to have myself removed from the server so it doesn't clash wit Chromacity.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jim-DA In reply to bradester [2011-06-16 14:18:24 +0000 UTC]

Actually, Chromacity works with dAmn colors, problem is that dAmn colors has LONG since stopped working, though the author of Chromacity will be updating the script so it works better. Not sure if he/she has yet, but keep an eye on NuckChorris0

Come on guys. Calm down, and wait. It is not that easy to keep up with all the codes that are required to make a script run. It's not extremely easy to do it, so give the creator time to check all the updates, and then start making their own fixes. Nol might also be extremely busy at this point in time. I know I am what with final exams just around the corner.

Oh, totally. As a future programmer, I feel the creator's pain. XD coding can be extremely difficult.

karin-chan1994 In reply to MattsyKun [2011-05-17 22:35:33 +0000 UTC]

I understand completely. I am also a future programmer, and just looking at the codes makes me sick to my stomach. What people don't understand is that coding is a completely different language. Also, it's fairly easy to destroy a code by simply missing a comma, or missing a letter.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MattsyKun In reply to karin-chan1994 [2011-05-17 22:40:03 +0000 UTC]

oooooh yeah, I know that pain. Just a semicolon outta place can screw everything over

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

karin-chan1994 In reply to MattsyKun [2011-05-18 00:48:21 +0000 UTC]

HNNNNG Yes. Then you spend 3 hours trying to figure out what you did wrong and then you realize you missed a semicolon. Sadly, you've already wasted time and now you're 3 hours behind schedule.

My god, I'm working on coding my profile so it looks nice. I've already spent all this time trying to get it right. Trial and error. XD

xDDDD

I was working on an assignment for my class, and I was trying to get this one code to go through. It befuddled me that it wasn't working, but then I noticed I was missing a comma and suddenly the world finally made sense. xD

Directly Download this script, Chrome has greasemonkey functionality as it stands. It should work fine.

It says that it must be UTF8 coded. And this means...?

Differant coding format, I think getting Tampermonkey will fix that issue

I've been a longtime user, and I've noticed as of late that the dAmncolors script no longer has the commands for changing one's colors. Is this a mistake? Or is it simply an incompatibility with the latest version of GreaseMonkey?

QUESTION!!!!!!!
Are you ever going to fix this script so that it works with FireFox version 4 and higher?
Because it is causing me quite a big problem.
It gives me this huge popup error message window when I type /join #chatroom
And then it gives me another giant huge popup error message when i type in the text bar of a chatroom and hit the enter button.
And thus it prevents me from seeing any of the text I typed to that particular room I am in, along with preventing me from seeing the other chatrooms I am in, but I still join them (as I have Skype and hand the friends watch to see what happens and copy and paste it to the Skype window to see what is going on), yet i have no access to the room itself, let alone even see the room.

bradester In reply to ??? [2011-03-24 20:53:30 +0000 UTC]

So does dAmn colors not work with Firefox 4?

It's strange. Colors won't show up for at least 4 minutes, and then they will start working, but my user colors do not show up period.

👍: 0 ⏩: 3

Jim-DA In reply to bradester [2011-03-28 18:43:35 +0000 UTC]

Somewhat does, and you have to just re-enter your colors, you can re-enable the ability by right clicking where the tabs are and clicking 'Add-on Bar' to enable it, you'll see that little bar reappear at the bottom. That will give you the chance to change it, but the timing issue is still that, an issue.
