Cape was raring to go. Ever since hearing about the guilds some time ago, he’s dreamed of joining them, and now his dream finally came true! However, while he was more than ready to dive into Neve’s tunnels and do whatever the guilds required of him, his partner, Mari the Shuppet, was not. Although he didn’t know her well yet, she did seem a little tired on the tram ride to Neve. He figured she was normally a tired mon, though her request to stay behind seemed to suggest otherwise.

She told him he could go on ahead if he wanted, but he decided to stay behind and keep her company. That’s what a good teammate would do, right? He had never worked on a team before, but his lack of knowledge wouldn’t stop him from trying! Maybe he could find some books about working on a team…

Books…

Neve! That’s right, they were in Neve’s library! As an avid reader, another dream of Cape’s was to visit Neve’s library and read as many of the books there as he could. And here he was! All the more reason to sit this one out. The guilds were only going to retrieve something underground, from what Cape could understand. Surely everything will turn out alright! Picking out a book, or two.. or three… or four– Cape headed to a table to read, Mari napping next to him, until the guilds returned.

Everything did not turn out alright. Quite some time after Cape had begun reading, the table started quivering. Then it shook, and before he knew it, books started falling out of their shelves and furniture started to sway violently. Both mon were stunned for a moment, having never seen, much less experienced, an earthquake before. They quickly snapped out of it due to the startled shouts from the library patrons, some fleeing outside and some clinging underneath sturdier tables and furniture, with Meliorate deciding to do the latter.

Once things seemed to calm down, they went outside to see what had become of Neve, hoping for the best. Neve was in shambles, snow and debris piled up everywhere, and even some houses seemed to be missing.

Thankfully, some of the guild members were returning, led by Tiva, Wren, and Konjac, their red and blue uniforms setting them apart from the startled Neve residents. Many were battered and bruised, but despite that, the co-leaders wasted no time organizing the groups, sending the injured away to rest and gathering the well-enough to help with the debris. Konjac, however, quickly hurried over to the library.

Oh right, the library! Cape followed after Konjac, Mari trailing behind. Now that everything had more or less calmed down, they could see the extent of the damage to the library itself, and to Cape and Konjac’s dismay, it wasn’t any better than outside.

Konjac solemnly turned to the guild members that had followed after him, lifting his head up to speak.

“I know some of you have helped a lot or are hurting, but if you could spare a moment, could you please help at the Library? It’s a pretty strong building and survived structural damage, but a lot of books and shelves fell over during the quakes. It… It’s not as important as the damages around town or the hurt people, but… it hurts seeing it like this. And I know the town sees it as a strong foundation, something to rely on. Anyone who’s been hurt has also been brought there. So, if you have a moment, could you help clean up or help anyone who’s been hurt?”

Finally having the opportunity to help out, Cape perked up and gave an enthusiastic “Yes, sir!” before heading over to a pile of books that had tumbled out of their shelves, with Mari following suit. Together, they got to work carefully putting the books back where they belong.

Despite the circumstances, Cape couldn’t help but feel a twinge of excitement. A terrible disaster had just occurred, but thankfully the Rift City guilds were here to help!

Wooooo boyyy I am not used to writing ovo; But yippee post job 6 task done! I meant to do this months ago but got busy with school ahah, decided to crank it out fast now before this next semester starts!

After this I plan to do mission 6, hopefully with comics but we’ll see what happens :>
(just in case, I'll mention I didn't write Konjac's dialogue, it came from the post job 6 task thing)
