Description

This is a variant of my C19-C Averter-class cutter, an interpretation of a background ship from the Empire Strikes Back. Modelling was done in Sketchup and final renders in Blender.

Like the other ships of the same model acquired by the Rebel Alliance, the Shadow of Doubt acted as a reconnaissance ship during the Galactic Civil War. In 0 ABY it was caught in a crossfire during the evacuation of Yavin 4, and the front of the ship was heavily damaged. As every available ship was valuable for the rebellion at the time, it was salvaged and repaired as well as the limited resources allowed. The cockpit was moved to the former mid-section of the ship, cutting the overall length down to about 35 meters. Due to the front being removed, the ship lost interior space and some equipment that couldn’t be relocated, but also suffered a significant reduction in maneuverability in atmosphere. Landing became especially difficult and risky, and while the ship continued its role as a reconnaissance ship, it was mainly used for missions that didn’t require entering the atmosphere.

The Shadow of Doubt was present at the Haven rendezvous point after the Battle of Hoth, along with two other ships of the same type, the Hazebreaker and the Incident Light.
