2171 - First reports of systematic slaver abductions outside of batarian space.

2173 - ClockRock Aerospace presents the Timespace Variator® - first fully modern non-linear FTL drive. Major human enslavement and trafficking network uncovered on Earth. Alliance´ Ministry for Inner Affairs enacts Edicts 78471 and 78472, expulsing all batarians out of Alliance space and authorising perquisition of batarians as well as batarian and batarian-chartered vessels by members of the military or militarised civilian individuals in all galactic space. Alliance imposes economic sanctions on batarian citizens and assets. First reports of Cerberus activity.

2175 - Batarian Ambassador to the Citadel Osank Kogremon entangled in a scandal over legalising slave traders´ operations in Council space after the Alliance Intelligence Service makes an intercepted memo public. Turian Hierarchy and Asari Republics terminate diplomatic relations with the Batarian Hegemony and partially join Alliance´ sanctions.

2176 - Skyllian Blitz begins when Elysium is attacked by a force of batarian contractors and militarised civilians. 12th Carrier Fleet, 23rd Motorised Rifles´ Army and the AIS Sigma Group sent to intercept cut off the attackers´ logistical lines (see Elysian Pocket), impose a 168-hour curfew and engage in a 7-day campaign of door-to-door urban warfare against the landed batarian forces (see Packing Week). Batarian officials deny the Hegemony´s involvement in attack preparation.

2177 - Alliance Parliament authorises unrestricted action against batarian individuals and assets by the Alliance Armed Forces, the AIS and Alliance InSec (see "War on Galactic Terror" Speech) after interrogation of captured batarian perpetrators reveals involvement of the batarian State. AIS Sigma Group, supported by the 12th Carrier Fleet, lands on Torfan, the raid seeing nearly total annihilation of Torfan´s 35-million populace (see History of fentanyl-based military gas uses, Hakrez´Kivil Scandal and Alliance Commission on Questionable Military Methods).

2181 - The Commission on Questionable Military Methods suspends 2793 operators of the AIS Sigma Group due to allegations of their involvement in torture of non-combatants. 12th Carrier Fleet imposes a cordon around the Kite´s Nest Relay.

2183 - Geth attack on Eden Prime signifies the beginning of the 2183 Geth Campaign that culminated in the destruction of a significant geth force alongside with Sovereign, a Reaper destroyer. Significant involvement of AIS Sigma Group operators and Alliance´ sacrifice of the bulk of the 6th Fleet leads to the Alliance´ ascension to the Council of Galactic Powers. John Shepard becomes Spectre and a public hero.
