Changelings have very vivid dreams, and are naturally able to lucid dream. They can actually create dreams as well, and morph them to however they want.. But not all of them care enough to do that.
Vess is part of the second group. She has some interest in it, but she prefers to be more protected in the outside world rather than in the mental one.
Also, she often has dreams about The Seventh Son. And she's such a hopefully little bugger that she thinks he's taken her back each time. Poor girl. So she usually works hard to just pretend it's real so she can be happy for a little bit.
