Pacifist makes you cry and happy on the inside and Genocide makes you fight a character you thought was a joke and you fell very bad about everything

I can't quite explain what it was, but I cried at the scene with Sans at the Cafe. I actually cried. And I NEVER cry. What the actual hell is this game and how did it evoke some of the most intense emotions I've felt in most of my life???
