lol his face is crap. I just gave up after redoing it about 4 times....

I think you did you a really great job on his boots and hammer thing.
Giving him a shadow and having him interact with the background more would help with the realism.
Sketching real people and trying gestural strokes can help with realistic faces and looseness of the body.
