simple, and beautiful.
don't know why, but I slightly prefer the duotone version

really??? the one I submitted today??
I found it really rediculous of them to make me make a duotone that has almost none real or substantial difference with the original one just so thed accept it...
hence the no comment on the duotone..
thanks though

yes, the one you submitted today.
You're right, they are almost the same, but I prefer the sun in the same color tonality, instead of the original where it goes slightly to yellow.

This one's darker, which I really like so much more. And the contrast is excellent, always keeping the soft tones. Beautiful. And the sun looks awesome, more intense.
WOW, what else can I say?... I think this photo is perfect, everything on is just great. You took the best decisions to take this photo, good choices in everything.
Definitely,

well the only disappoinment it this is that it is just a plain shillouet and no highlights in the front.
this was wasy to take and much simpler yet by far the most popular of the series

jcmaesch In reply to ntora [2006-09-02 14:20:34 +0000 UTC]
I wouldn't see it as a disappointment... sometimes in simple things you found the best things; and you said it, this one's the most popular of the series.

ntora In reply to jcmaesch [2006-09-02 21:30:44 +0000 UTC]
true...
but I would love to think that in real life a more complecated image like II or IV would attract and hold attention longer. would make a more interesting wall-frame-art

jcmaesch In reply to ntora [2006-09-03 20:21:43 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I guess I know what you mean...
But you can stare at a photo all day long, for its complexity; and take a simple look to a simpler photo... and even so, the simpler photo may be more attractive than the complex one. It's quite subjective...
And sometimes, certain complexity might become sort of annoying and/or disliking [and I don't mean this is your case, not at all]. It's like the baroque period works, or baroque style in general... some people like it, some people don't... and that in spite of its ornate and elaborated details.

Just to let you know that this one is my favorite in the series. The vertical composition is much more powerful and energetic. The sun may be a little bit low, but what can you do about it!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
ntora In reply to CenkDuzyol [2006-09-01 14:01:31 +0000 UTC]
thank you for that opinion.
Actually i liked the sun low, just to have something different, you know, push the limits, go further, get away with it etc!
the IV is also vertical and the sun is much higher, are you sure you do not want to reconsider??

hi back!
I belive I like this the most because of the sun: makes the image warmer and softer!

well this is one of the higher contrast ones but i underestimate it cause it was much easier to take that the other 3..
Good to know for popularity reasons
thanks

Very awesome shot - you've shown improvement since the last time I checked out your gallery
A slightly smaller aperture would have done this photo well - to slightly increase the depth of field and get the stalk in the foreground into focus, while still maintaining the beautiful bokeh the stalks in the background afford.
The warm colors and the swarm of beautiful shapes mix well to give this photo a magical feel.
